Shoes for Your Little Boy (or girl!)

I got an e-mail from a reader to this site pointing out the awesome shoes in the picture. I thought it would be fun to share! Philippa writes:

I don’t know whether these velcro strap sneakers would appeal to you to add to your little guy’s wardrobe or if you know of anyone that might like to add this type of shoe to theirs, but I like them very much; they are not only comfortable but have the “rounded toebox” appearance that one generally only finds in toddler footwear.

They are made by Keen (the kids’ line), the model is called ‘Sula’ leather casual shoe and are available in other colors, too.

It is also of note that, although the shoes are a child’s size, and it is NOT because I have particularly small feet!

The sizing tends to run on the large side and the size 6 will fit a man’s US shoe size 7-7.5 or so. Another company called Geox has velcro models that tend to run large as well (I’ve a pair of brown ones) but I like these a bit more as the insole is softer/more cushioned.

And I love the little note about the socks!

“Just wanted to share πŸ™‚ And sorry my socks don’t match-I couldn’t decide which pair to wear so I was allowed to wear one of each. Take care and thanks for such a great site!”

So what do you think? Have you found a favorite pair of shoes, or some clothing meant for ‘adults’ that feels like it suits a little one?

  1. I love Velcroed shoes, they’re adorable! Now I want a pair of those too πŸ™‚

Heelys are awesome too! They’re the ones with the roller in the heel so you can glide down the playroom floor right into your lego tower and have to start all over again …er I mean…

I’m always on the lookout for Velcro Heelys in my size. I always remember when I first saw them and I was just a little bit to ‘cool’ for kids shoes, but I secretly wanted them soo bad! There not completely toddler kosher, but they’re just too much fun to resist if your a little boy like me πŸ™‚

  2. when i was up through junior high i wore shoes like that…..:P id love to be able to have a pair again that fit me.

  3. I like the Velcro shoes because they are easy for TODDlers to put on but hard to find now a days and I run fairly large. The other problem I have is that my feet are really funny and I have to have a wide shoe so unless its custom its probably hard to find. I do however like to just have shoes, shirt and a diaper around the house and then I can be changed without having to take shoes off. πŸ™‚

  4. Keen also has Sula in womens sizes upto size 11. I don’t know if they are wide enough for our litte boy but should be no problem for our litte girls. These are available in the USA.

On a personal note: Babyzac is out of town for a week and I’m sure missing my baby boy ! I love you with all my heart Babyzac !!! Mmmmuuuuaaahhh !!!

  5. i am lucky, as i am pre birth deveolopmental deleyed i am very small, 5` 1″ and i take size 5uk (6us) shoes, sized 14-16 boys cloths, one good thing about been autistic

  6. They’re selling these on Amazon. I wear a size 10 in mens. Does anyone know if they sell the same size 10. I know they run big and all that, I just want to make sure it’s not some modified ‘kids version of 10’.

  7. I have a pair of black Converse, with rainbow laces, that I love! I don’t know why, but Converse remind me of something, that a toddler, or little kid, would wear.

  8. I have a pair of women’s Keens sandals in blue that look almost exactly like the child’s version, perfect for this little boy.

I also have a pair of Doc Martin’s Double T-Straps. The sole is a little thick and heel a little high for my taste but they remind me of the little “Christopher Robin” shoes (that’s what I called them) that I wore when I was chronologically a little boy. How many pair of those I had back then I forget but there seems to be pic’s from my before ‘tween childhood wearing many throughout those years. My Doc Martin’s may not be exact copy but when I put them on I’m taken back to those days. They feel very comfortable on my feet, and leave me feeling all comfy and secure!
